We opened some channels on Telegram, covering some of the services previously offered on the forums.
Why Telegram
Telegram can be used on virtually any machine, PC, tablet or smartphone, with or without installation of a dedicated software.
Those who don't like to install Telegram providing their telephone number to the service, are able to open and read a channel using a web browser by clicking on "channel preview"; in this case instead of using the Telegram chat, they may be offered the opportunity of interacting through additional means: NOSTR message, email, telephone number...
Installing Telegram
Those who want to get in touch with other users in the chat, can install a Telegram client on Linux, Windows, MacOS. On your Android you can download the APK file from the official website and run it (after giving the necessary permissions). We recommend this method of installation instead of the PlayStore edition of the same software which is manipulated and limited in functionality by Google.
You can even use a fork of the Telegram app, which is open source. Find yours in ZapStore (alongside a ton of other apps).
Translations
By using an installed Telegram software you can translate single messages from the contextual menu; reading Telegram content in a web page you must rely on the service provided by the browser, translating the whole page (some better than others).
SAFETY AND PRIVACY NOTICE
We strongly recommend the use of the NOSTR protocol for any activity on the web, but some of our users are not yet ready to free themselves from centralized services they are used to. Telegram is currently the best alternative for our purposes.
Users on Telegram can contact each other freely. You are the sole responsible in dealing with other users directly on the internet.
PLEASE BE AWARE that on Telegram you may be contacted by scammers and impersonators trying to steal sensitive and personal data. Watch out and be super careful not to share any. On line, if this is the case, send your payments without intermediaries (P2P e-cash) and only to verified IDentities, or pay in person. This way you avoid the high costs of centralized services (e.g. eBay, PayPal...). If you have a sense of something odd, look closely to the Username of those contacting you by clicking on their avatar; typosquatting is a common practice: an additional space or a single different character in the username is enough to create another user apparently identical to the original one. Also, pay attention not to muddle Username and Bio fields of your contacts.
